The Ultimate Showdown: Clamps vs Tape for your CNC

CNC CNC Clamps cnc projects cnc woodworking

In this video, we'll look at different methods for securing your project to your CNC bed. I'll be showing you two different methods for using tape to attach your workpiece to your CNC bed using both standard masking tape with CA glue and double-sided woodworking tape by XFasten.

I'll also be showing 3 different CNC clamps for T-Slot workholding. This includes an aluminum hold-down clamp and Cruch-it toe clamps from Carbide 3D.

Masking Tape and CA Glue Method

Masking Tape and CA Glue Method
This method is used by many woodworkers because the items needed are widely available from most hardware stores.

Double Sided Woodworking Tape

Double Sided Woodworking Tape
This tape is quick and easy to use. It’s the method I use most when working with thin materials on my CNC machine.

Aluminum hold-down clamps

These T-Slot clamps are affordable, quick, and easy to use. The thumb screw makes them a time saver to work with as you need no tools to tighten and lose them.

Low profile toe-clamps.

Low profile toe-clamps.
These are great for general purpose workholding on your CNC machine where you can’t have the clamps getting in the way of the CNC bit.

Crush-It Toe Clamps

Crush-It Toe Clamps
Like the above clamps, these clamps work by clamping the side of your projects and not the top. This heavy duty version is larger and holds your project with more pressure.
