The Aztec Sun Stone, commonly referred to as the Aztec calendar stone, is a post-classic Mexica sculpture housed in Mexico City's National Anthropology Museum. It is highly renowned for its craftsmanship and is an iconic piece of Mexica sculpture. After the Spanish conquest, it was buried in the Zócalo, Mexico City's main square, before its rediscovery in 1790 by builders repairing the Mexico City Cathedral. Subsequently, it was mounted on the cathedral's exterior until 1885.
